Group Lessons
The majority of Maypine’s lesson program is presented in a group learning format. Rachel Pincombe-Kneen, our Lesson Program Director, teaches the majority of the group lessons. Her lessons are supported by detailed and progressive lesson plans. There is a formal evaluation of your progress after each session. This benchmark is critical as it supports your progressive improvement in the sport. Our programs' rigorous planning ensures that we cover the recommended information for each level, Beginner 1 through Advanced lessons.
Safety is our premier concern followed by learning in a fun and exciting environment. We incorporate numerous teaching modalities in each of our sessions. The majority of the lessons are mounted, but, one or two lessons per session will be ground lessons covering care, feeding, showing and the endless other details necessary for good horsemanship. One lesson per session is devoted to taping your riding followed by the viewing of your performance with your instructor, critiquing for improvements.
Our lessons are limited to six riders per class, but often class size is smaller. Our small class size ensures individualized instruction. Group lessons are held Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings. Day classes are held Saturdays and Sundays. Each class may vary in age distribution, but again, this adds to the fun and diversity of the learning experience. We do offer private adult classes on request. The group lessons run on quarterly sessions: winter, spring, summer and fall.
Our greatest asset in our lesson program is our director, Rachel Pincombe-Kneen. Rachel has her Master Level Training Certificate from Meredith Manor. She maintains a safe and fun environment for students of all ages. The second important component are our wonderful school horses. Maypine‘s horses are cared for to the highest standards. We feel this quality care is important for an enjoyable and safe riding experience.
Learning in a group lesson environment brings people together who have the same passion for horses and riding. It’s a great environment to meet new friends that may last a lifetime. Group lessons afford the benefit of watching and learning from others, both their successes and areas of improvement which will add to your knowledge and enjoyment.
